Voters Question Results of PSSI Chairman Election of Deadlock at Vice Chairman Poll
JAKARTA – The election of PSSI vice chairman was deadlocked during an extraordinary congress at Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta on Thursday, forcing a repeat of the election.
The repeat was taken after several candidates names were not tallied during vote counting.
“I voted for Mas Syauqi (Ahmad Syauqi Soeratno) but his name didn’t appear,” Wahyudi Kurniawan, vice chairman of PSSI Yogyakarta provincial association said on the sidelines of the extraordinary congress.
Before the repeat election, Zainudin Amali and Yunus Nusi had been declared as the winners with 66 votes and 63 votes, respectively. Ratu Tisha garnered 41 votes.
Because of this, Wahyudi doubted the PSSI chairman election, which was won by Erick THohir, who is also the State-Owned Enterprises Minister.
“They could just read the vote tally arbitrarily during the chairman election,” he said.
Erick was elected to replace Mochamad Iriawan as PSSI chairman for 2023-2027 periode with 64 votes. Another strong contender, La Nyalla Mattalitti only received 22 votes.
Wahyudi said he doubted the election result because La Nyalla should have received more votes.
“I believe there is (something strange). Because it (the tally result) was read so fast. Even if he lost, Pak Nyalla should not have lost so badly,” he concluded.
